For book club we are reading a book called Boy Overboard this is what it is about so far.
A boy named Jamal has a passion for soccer, but he lives in Afghanistan which is a very strict country. Him and his sister aren't allowed playing soccer, This book is all about how him and his family go on a journey to try make a national soccer team for Afghanistan and move to Australia.
They are now making a new book to carry on with this one, can't wait until it comes out!
I rate this book a five star.
Girl underground by Morris Gleitzman
This book is about a girl named Bridget. Her family are criminals and they save up all there money to send her to a posh school. Bridget's brother was in jail because he was caught shoplifting. She is very nervous because if anyone at the school finds out about her family secret her, and her will go to jail. but she meets up with a boy named Menzies. Menzies has a close friend in the detention centre that sends him notes. I think they will try to get Menzies friend out to make him happy since he never gets to see his parents.

Gangster Granny by David Walliams
One day Ben had to go to his granny's house for the weekend he didn't like his granny she always made him cabbage soup. It was so quiet at her house and she loved to play scrabble. That night Ben had enough of it and called his mum to ask if he could go home, but he didn't know that his granny was listening behind the door. The next day Ben asked for a cookie his granny told him to go check the jar on the pantry, Ben went and checked but what he saw blew his mind. A load of sparkling jewels. He followed his granny and saw that she was trying to rob a jewellery store. He asked his granny what they were and she told him the stories of all of them and how she was a jewellery thief. Ben comes up with an idea to rob the crown of jewels. And he finds out how to get in the queens castle. Him and his granny are just about to rob it but then the queen catches him. Ben's granny and the queen have a lot in common and become great friends. Ben's granny tells him that all the jewels were fake and and she wasn't actually a jewel thief then she gets cancer and dies. On the news was his granny's jewels and it said they were actually real and worth millions! What I thought about the book: I Was was really surprised when I found out the jewels were real and the stories she said she made up might have actually been true. Age group: 9-12 Rating: ***** Star
Middle school is about a boy named Rafe and it is a Series. For this book Rafes school is destroyed and the only way he can go back to school is by going to his old school HVMS, he got suspended from HVMS because he was really naughty. He asks if they can let him back in but the only way he can get in is by finishing a 1 week course. By the end of the course he has to have 20 metal doughnuts or he doesn't get in the school. He does very good, his instructors are Sargent Fish and Pittman. Rafes partner is Carmen but she just slacks around and lets Rafe do all the work. In the end he gets the 20 doughnuts and is allowed to go back to his old school.
I would rate this book 4 stars.
Horrible science (Time)
This book is all about time and how it was invented. It also has the invention of the calender and clock in it. Ages ago someone found out that the summer sun and winter sun were different, the winter sun is lower and the summer sun is higher. So he put a little statue outside and if it was winter the shadow would be big because of the way the sun is shining on it. If it was the summer the shadow would be small.
I found this book really interesting and I will rate it 4 an 1/2 stars.
